Cat Bath

By Aileen Fisher

After she eats,
my purry friend
washes herself
from end to end.

Washes her face,
her ears, her paws,
washes the pink
between her claws.

I watch and think
it’s better by far
to splash in a tub
with soap in a bar

And washcloth in hand
and towel on the rung
than to have to do all
that work BY TONGUE.
