Shaykh Abu Al Haytham Mohammed Darwish
Seeking Help (الاستعانة) : It is relying on Allah Almighty to bring benefits and ward off harm, with confidence in Him in obtaining that.
If the servant does not depend on Allah Almighty alone in seeking benefit and warding off harm, then he should depend on the weak wordly creation, or is he proud and deceived by his own limited ability ??
Allah Almighty alone has power (القوى ) over all and is the master of destiny (القدر ), and only Allah is able to fulfill one’s needs and wishes and ward off evil and harm.
Seeking Help : It is relying with confidence in Allah Almighty to grant benefits and ward off harm. And establishing worship of Allah and seeking help from Allah is the means to eternal happiness and deliverance from all evils. There is no way to salvation except by doing both.
The scholar Ibn al-Qayyim, رحمه الله, says:
Trust or التَّوَكُّلُ (in Allah) is half of the religion , and the second half is inābah [to return to Allah in all affairs and repentance]. That is because the religion is through seeking help and doing acts of worship. Therefore, reliance on Allah is seeking help, and turning to Allah in worship.
The Almighty said:
And put your trust in the Almighty, Most Merciful, Who sees you when you stand (in prayer) and (sees) your movement among those who prostrate.. Surely, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
One of the fruits of trust is that the one who makes himself dependent (المتوكل ) and puts his trust in Allah is granted with what he wants and what he hopes for, to the extent that his trust in Allah , is sufficient for the attainment of whatever is required, as the Almighty Allah said:
And whoever places his trust in Allah, He is sufficient for him.
and whoever has sincere trust in Allah for attaining something, then surely he will acquire what he wants
