Verses in the Qur’an about people whom Allah loves, and does not love

Those whom Allah loves :


Allah loves the good-doers (Qur’an sura 2, verse 195; 3:134 & 148; 5:13 & 93)

Allah loves those who repent (Q 2:222)

Allah loves those who purify themselves (Q 2:222; 9:108)

“Say, ‘If you love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you…’” (Q 3:31)

Allah loves those who fear Him (Q 3:76; 9:4 & 7)

Allah loves the patient/steadfast (Q 3:146)

Allah loves those who put their trust/rely [in him] (Q 3:159)

Allah loves the just (Q 5:42; 49:9; 60:8)



Allah loves those who fight in His way/cause (Q 61:4)


Those whom Allah does not love :


Allah does not love transgressors (Q 2:190; 5:87; 7:55)

Allah does not love corruption/mischief (Q 2:205)

Allah does not love the ungrateful and wicked/sinner (Q 2:276)

Allah does not love the unbelievers/ who reject faith (Q 3:32; 30:45)

Allah does not love wrongdoers (Q 3:57 & 140; 42:40)

Allah does not love the proud and boastful/vainglorious (Q 4:36; 31:18; 57:23)

Allah does not love one who is treacherous and sinful (Q 4:107)

Allah does not love the utterance of harsh speech save by one who has been wronged (Q 4:148)

Allah does not love the corrupters (Q 5:64; 28:77)

Allah does not love the wasteful/extravagant (Q 6:141; 7:31)

Allah does not love the arrogant (Q 16:23)

Allah does not love treacherous and ungrateful (Q 22:38)

Allah does not love the exultant (those who are glad or feel triumphant without being grateful of Allah’s favours) (Q 28:76)

Q 3:31 – “Say, ‘If you love Allah, follow me…”

Q 5:54 – “Allah will bring a people whom he loves and who love him…”

Q 2:165 – “…loving them [rivals to Allah] with a love like [that which is due to] Allah—Those who believe are stauncher in their love for Allah.”

Q 2:177 – “…righteous is he who…gives his wealth, for love of him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy…”
